The Mercedes Benz W205 C63 AMG sounds incredible with the DCE Parts 200 Cell Downpipes. They are also available in a Catless version. The 4.0 Twin Turbo sounds so aggressive with these downpipes, it is just unreal! The W205 C63 AMG is the last C-Class with a V8, so why not make it sound amazing?

With the new Mercedes W206 C63 AMG getting a 4 cylinder, it will probably never sound this good, even with aftermarket exhausts. What is your opinion on this? Comment in our video down below!

Affordable W205 C63 AMG Downpipes

Catless & 200 Cell High Flow Cat C63 Downpipe

The Mercedes-Benz W205 C63 AMG already sounds great when stock, however with the DCE Parts 200 Cell High Flow Catted Downpipes, you increase the volume by insane amounts with the Exhaust Flaps from the stock catback opened. The DCE Parts 200 Cell High Flow Catted Downpipes for the C63 AMG retain the deep sound that a V8 like the Mercedes Benz W205 C63 AMG should have. With the 200 Cell High Flow Catted Downpipe, the deep tones will remain, while the Catless version will get a more raspier sound. The DCE Parts C63 Downpipe is one of the best upgrades that you can do on your W205 C63 AMG.

Great fitment

Despite being affordable, the DCE Parts C63 downpipe's fitment was great. It is a relatively big job, because the OE stock C63 downpipes will only come off by either cutting them in half or removing the gearbox. We've chosen for the first option, as cutting the downpipes is the quickest and easiest way to replace them. The DCE Parts C63 Downpipe required a little wiggle to get them in, but once in, it was a straight forward build. We do recommend this job only to workshops that have experience with higher end vehicles as the job requires some patience.

With this customer, we've chosen to keep the OEM catback in place as this is already a valved system and is nearly a straight pipe once you replace the OE C63 Downpipes with a less restrictive version. They connected to the OEM catback perfectly.

Why do you get more performance with a the DCE Parts c63 downpipe

The W205 C63 AMG has a V8 under the hood. The C63 AMG features a so called Hot-V turbo configuration, what basically means that the twin turbos sit on top of the engine, in between the two cylinder banks. This has a lot of benefits, but we will explain this in a later blog post. So we already mentioned that the C63 AMG has two turbos. It means that the C63 AMG also has two downpipes, one for each cylinder bank.

The downpipe is the exhaust part that directly connects to your turbo. The OEM C63 downpipe guides exhaust gases away from the engine and turbo. It most applications will also feature a Catalytic Converter. A downpipe is commonly regarded as one of the most cost effective ways to gain power together with a remap. It allows the turbo of the engine to be more effective and due to the reduced back pressure, you will also have less turbo lag. An aftermarket C63 downpipe is commonly supplied in two options, Catless and with a High Flow Catalytic Converter.

Aftermarket solutions are less restrictive than the stock downpipes. Installing a less restrictive Downpipe together with a remap (usually called a Stage 2 Remap due to the exhaust modifications), you can easily push high horsepower numbers while being relatively friendly to your wallet. A Stage 2 Remap for your Mercedes C63 AMG is the best bang for buck tuning mod for those who aim for higher performance numbers.

In addition to changing the Mercedes C63 AMG Downpipe to a less restrictive version will also increase the exhaust sound levels. To most of us who chooses to go with a C63 Downpipe, this is also an added benefit. Generally, changing the C63 Downpipe while keeping the stock cat-back in place will not dramatically increase sound levels to an ear-deafening degree in the car. Usually the C63 Downpipe modification remains silent until you increase the engine load.

It will also be more noticeable during a cold start. If you choose to change the cat-back as well, we recommend to go with a Valvetronic system that is designed for Catless or High Flow Catted applications as these usually also filters out drone from a less restrictive C63 Downpipe and can be loud when you want to, but nearly as silent as OEM when you do not want the car to be as loud. They come with Flaps that can open and close with a push of a button to increase or decrease sound levels.
