How does the OPF Delete Software work?
When an OPF (Otto Particulate Filter) is removed or modified on a modern BMW, the ECU will typically trigger a Check Engine Light (CEL) . This is due to the built-in diagnostics that monitor the OPF system via sensors. Software coding or tuning is required to prevent this. By flashing a different version of the BMW ECU that does not check the OPF sensors, it allows the owner of the vehicle to remove the OPF without triggering a warning light and preventing the car from going into limp mode.
